스웨덴세탁소 (Sweden Laundry) – 두 손, 너에게 (Two Hands, to You)

I’ve been meaning to post a different song by Sweden Laundry, but this song just came out, so I’ll have to push the other one back for now. Before I get into talking about the song, I have to once again find fault in the official translation. Their name really should be Swedish Laundromat, as that is the correct (and literal) translation (plus it doesn’t sound as random and odd as Sweden Laundry…). I believe there was actually a K-drama with the exact same name, and even they translated it to Sweden Laundry. I don’t get it.
If you’ve been following me, just from the first couple of seconds of the song, you’d know this is my kind of song. It’s the type of voice and style you can fall asleep to. To be honest, I was a little put off by the guy’s part until I listened carefully to the lyrics. “The guy”, as I referred to, is actually 최백호 (Choi Baek Ho), a pretty well known singer who’s been in the scene since the 50s, and he’s the perfect fit as this is a song from a dad to his daughter (I can definitely relate). The song captures the rare moment a daughter has alone with her dad, looking up into the night skies. All the worries she had, and has for the future, the worries she could not share with anyone else, she lets them all out to the person who’s so close yet so far away. The person who was seldom there, but was also always there for her. Having that someone to depend on, who loves you unconditionally, is such a comforting feeling.
